Apple imposes a ban on Anker smartwatches in the USA – E24

Apple has appealed the U.S. government’s decision to ban the import of Apple watches that can read the level of oxygen in the blood.

U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ordered a halt in the import and sale of Apple watches with this technology embedded, something several models have had since 2020.

The decision stems from a complaint by the company Masimo, which produces medical equipment and accuses Apple of patent infringement.

According to Masimo, Apple lured employees away from them and then stole technology the company had previously developed to measure blood oxygen levels.

Apple did not succeed in its attempt to get the Biden administration to reverse the ITC’s decision to ban import and sales, which came into effect on December 26.

The company states that they have now filed an appeal on the decision with the federal U.S. Court of Appeals.

– We strongly disagree with the ITC’s decision and exclusion order, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that customers in the USA can soon buy the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 again, a statement from Apple said.

At the beginning of the year, Apple was the Norwegian oil fund’s largest single investment with a book value of 209.7 billion Norwegian kroner.
