Marian Robinson, mother of former First Lady Michelle Obama, has passed away at the age of 86.
The Obama family released a statement confirming her death.
The statement, signed by Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and other family members, praised Marian Robinson for her ability to sum up truths in life with one or two words.
Michelle Obama described her mother as her rock who was always there for her and the family.
Barack Obama also paid tribute to his mother-in-law, stating that there was and will only ever be one Marian Robinson.
Both Michelle and Barack expressed their sadness at her passing and vowed to live up to her example.
