“We are working on startup plans, but it depends on us getting satisfactory customer contracts. We need profitability,” says CEO Erik Løkke-Øwre in Norsun to Bergens Tidende.

The reason why the factory has temporarily shut down production is due to a dramatic price drop in Europe.

Import restrictions in the US lead to cheaper solar modules from China being sold to Europe, flooding the market with modules that few can compete against.

Twelve employees are still working at the factory, and Norsun is now working to obtain resources through support programs such as Enova, Siva, and Innovation Norway.
