The Russian Foreign Ministry announced Foreign Minister Lavrov’s visit to Africa on Telegram, sharing a picture of him at Conakry airport.
No details were provided about the purpose of the visit or whether Lavrov will be visiting other African countries.
The Russian news agency afrinz.ru reported that Lavrov will travel to Chad on Wednesday leading a "highly important delegation."
Guinea, where Lavrov arrived, is a poor country with significant natural resources and has been ruled by a dictatorship for several decades.
