Volodymyr Zelenskyj visits Stockholm to meet with Nordic leaders and discuss security issues and the upcoming NATO summit in Washington DC.
Zelenskyj is the president of Ukraine, a country in conflict with Russia since 2014, making the meeting important for Nordic countries due to Russia’s proximity.
The visit focuses on Ukraine’s need for air defense systems, defense production, and arming soldiers against Russian aggression.
Zelenskyj will sign three security agreements to provide long-term security guarantees for Ukraine.
The visit is part of Zelenskyj’s tour of European countries, following visits to Spain, Portugal, and Belgium.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg urges more support for Ukraine, including approval for the use of Western weapons against Russia.
The Nordic summit will address current security issues, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and preparation for the upcoming NATO summit.
Stoltenberg believes Ukraine can prevail with continued Western support, as more countries, including Norway, endorse the use of Western weapons by Ukraine.
