Local politician Øyunn Iversen referred to Israel as "Nazi-Israel" in a Tiktok video this week, following a deadly Israeli attack on a tent camp in Rafah.
Iversen is the only representative of the Sentrum party in the municipal council in Nordre Follo.
The video was met with criticism from the local Arbeiderparti team and former mayor Hanne Opdan (Ap).
Iversen apologized for her choice of words, stating that the video was a personal emotional reaction and not reflective of her political views.
The video was not well received by the Arbeiderparti in Nordre Follo, who expressed concern over the use of such language.
Oppegård Avis, the local newspaper, chose to focus on Iversen’s wording instead of the situation in Gaza, according to Iversen.
Iversen suggested that Opdan should join TikTok to continue raising awareness about the situation in Gaza.
